Getting there

Halcyon Isle

An island built for players' homes, in the sea north of Seers' Village. Every home is a real place on the map, so anyone can walk up to an open door.

Halcyon Isle is a stop on the city Void Rift network. Use the rift at Edgeville, Varrock, Falador, Ardougne or the Void Enclave and pick Halcyon Isle. The island's own rift takes you back to any of them.

From Lumbridge, the rowboat moored on the River Lum, just north of the Lumbridge spawn, rows you over for free: choose Sail, then Halcyon Isle. It doesn't come back, so leave by the island's rift.

Once you own a home, your hearthstone takes you straight to it from anywhere, then needs a ten-minute rest. Lost it? The Steward hands you another.

Your first visit plays the island's chime and suggests turning sound on. Construction has its own calm, hand-made sounds: saws, hammers, doors, the kiln, and a singing bowl when you level up.

  • The Rift sits east of the Town Square, where you arrive.
  • The Town Hall, north of the square, has the Steward and a bank chest.
  • Carpenter's Yard, beside the Rift, has the sawmill bench, the Sawyer, a workbench, the kiln and the commission board.
  • There's also a market, an orchard, a Zen Garden, a harbour and a lighthouse to explore.

The Steward

Your home

Every home on the island is already built. You buy one outright and make it yours inside and in its garden.

  1. Find one you like.Empty homes have a for-sale sign by the path. Read it for the size, price and level.
  2. Talk to the Steward. The Steward, in the Town Hall, lists every size with the homes still free.
  3. Pay from your pack. The deed is yours, and a hearthstone settles into your pack. Use it and pick Go home from anywhere.
  4. Set your front door.Private, friends only, or open to everyone. Ask the Steward about your home, or type ::con access open.

You can own one home per account. The Steward can also move you to another home, taking your old deed back at its full price against the new one and packing every piece into storage. Moving to a smaller home costs nothing and pays nothing back. Stored pieces are rebuilt for free in your next home, with no materials and no XP. If you're away for 60 days, your home goes back on sale and everything in it is stored, so nothing is ever lost.

Building

Build mode

Step inside your home or garden and press Build at the top right of the screen.

  1. Pick a piece. The panel lists every piece with its level and XP. Materials show what you carry against what you need, green when you have enough. Tabs at the top filter by room.
  2. Aim.A see-through ghost follows your mouse. Green means it fits; red means it doesn't, and hovering tells you why.
  3. Click to build. The materials leave your pack and the piece appears. It stays in your hand, so you can keep placing.
  4. Turn it.Press R while holding a piece. Esc puts it down.
  5. Change your mind.Right-click a placed piece to Move, Rotate or Remove it. Removing gives nothing back.

Materials

Start building: Construction materials, recipes, homes and building activities are now available. Take logs and coins to the Lumbridge sawmill or Halcyon Isle’s Carpenter’s Yard, then use the benches, anvil and kiln to make what your plans need.

Furniture is built from planks, fittings, clay, glass, cloth and more. Each comes from another skill.

Planks in Lumbridge

Lumbridge has its own sawmill, in a small building behind the general store. It has a sawmill bench and a Sawyer, just like Carpenter's Yard, so you can chop the trees nearby and saw them on the spot.

Plank Make

At Magic 60, cast Plank Make on a log and it shapes the whole stack into planks, one a tick. Each plank costs 1 nature rune and 2 earth runes (an earth staff covers the earth) and gives Magic XP. The wood needs the same Construction level as at the bench.

Each log you burn in the kiln pays its usual Firemaking XP, and leftover heat carries over to your next firing. Prices match their ingredients, so making materials never creates coins. The old Tile item finally has a use.

Levels 1 to 99

Training, the efficient way

A piece's XP is the sum of what goes into it. The best training builds big pieces, takes them down, and builds them again.

The fastest route

The biggest piece you can build at each level, and how many builds take you to the next row with the 1.5x bonus. Rested XP and incense make it shorter.

Bank chests give the most XP per build from 90, but they eat rune fittings and gold leaf. Magic four-poster beds cost less per XP if you'd rather go easier on your bank. Sawing your own planks at the sawmill bench saves the Sawyer's fees.

No home needed

Commissions

The islanders need furniture too. Their orders are pinned to the board in Carpenter's Yard.

  1. Read the board. It offers three orders sized to your level.
  2. Take one.A commission note goes in your pack. Read it any time to see the order.
  3. Bring the materials.Build the pieces right at the board, for the usual XP.
  4. Get paid.Finishing pays 2 coins for every base XP, plus a tenth more XP as thanks.

Show it off

Showroom

Display pieces hold one real item each. Use an item on a display piece to put it on show: armour stands wear the armour, cape racks hang the cape, and pedestals and cases hold anything.

Quick answers

Can other players come in?
Only if you let them. Set your door to private, friends or open. Visitors can look around and drink from your pool, but they can't build or take anything.
Can I build anywhere else?
No. You build in your own home and garden on Halcyon Isle. Commissions let you train at the board without a home.
Do I get materials back when I remove a piece?
No. Removing a piece gives nothing back. Moving home is different: the Steward packs everything and you rebuild it for free.
What happens if I stop playing?
After 60 days away your home goes back on sale. Every piece and every displayed item is stored, and you can rebuild it all in your next home.
Can I own two homes?
No, one per account. The Steward can move you to a bigger or smaller one.
Is there a reward at 99?
The Master Builder title unlocks at level 99. The Construction cape is coming with the new skill cape artwork.
